State lawmakers voted Tuesday to override Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper’s veto of the 12-week abortion bill.

State Lawmakers Vote to Override Gov. Roy Cooper’s Veto of the 12-week Abortion Bill.

Last night there was a victory for LIFE!

The NC Senate and House of Representatives passed a veto override to secure the reduction of legal abortion to 12 weeks (with some exceptions). The law, known as the “Care for Women, Children, and Families Act“, prohibits abortions after 12 weeks, with exceptions: up to 20 weeks for rape and incest, up to 24 weeks for “life-limiting” fetal anomalies, and without limit if a physician determines that the mother’s life is in danger due to a medical emergency.

Recently, a Salisbury Post reporter asked this Executive Director – if the new Act will result in service changes provided by LIFE CHOICES Rowan?  We are hoping that there will be a reduction in the number of abortions in our state, but we will still be operating the same way that we have all along.  LIFE CHOICES is available to families going through an unanticipated pregnancy.  We help equip the family for parenting, but we are also available to any woman who may be experiencing emotional challenges after going through an abortion process.
